Mandoria City of Adventures - Rzgów near Łódź

Mandoria City of Adventures- Family amusement park entirely stylized for a renaissance trading town.

Placed in Fashion City PTAK, Rzgów, Mandoria is a first year-round amusement park in central Poland and the biggest indor theme park in Europe. Creators of the park, made the design from scratch, inspired by the era of Renaissance. The Attractions constitute as an integral part of this created world and guests while entering are supposed to feel as if they were visiting the real town straight from the era.

In the city of adventures, various attractions are awaiting guests, family-type rollercoasters and merry-go-rounds are just a tip of an iceberg. Every attraction has its distinct name and is designed to fit the theme of the park. The most important ones are: Merkant Rollercoaster, Leonard’s Lighthouse, Skarbiec- mirror maze or Karawana- two storey merry-go-round. A huge part of Mandoria’s attractions are disabilities-accesible.

Piotrkowska street

One of the most renowned streets in the country and also the longest Polish promenade is a symbol of the city. Tenement houses and palaces of Piotrkowska house shops, restaurants, cafés, restaurant yards, pubs, and music clubs. Piotrkowska pulsates with life all year round while fairs and festivals that take place in it, such as Festival of Street Art and Magic “Hokus Pokus”, Light Move Festival, or Songwriter Festival, give it its unique charm. When strolling along Piotrkowska, it is also worth glancing inside the renovated backyards, including the backyard of OFF Piotrkowska – one of the new wonders of Poland. Equally interesting for tourists and locals alike is the Passage of Roses and Birth of a Day. It is also a good idea to look up. The facades of the buildings situated in Piotrkowska are laden with eclectic architectural details: caryatids, relieves, bay windows... Look under your feet and you will see the Alley of Stars pointing to the cinematic heritage of Lodz, and the Monument of Lodz Citizens – a lane of the street laid with almost 17 thousand paving blocks with a cast iron plate with names and last names of the city founders.

The Rose Passage

The author of the project is Joanna Rajkowska. In the view of the previous works of the author, the Rose Passage is an exceptional and personal project which is linked to the illness of her daughter, Rose. The execution of the project was very labor-intensive as it consisted in gluing small pieces of mirrors on the walls of the tenement house at 3 Piotrkowska St.All the walls of the backyard have been covered in the pieces of mirror. The huge amount of light that this brought to the dark backyard has made this place exceptionally sparkling. The light-reflecting mosaic gives life to the surroundings, whereas the pieces of mirror create images which are seemingly unadjusted to each other and deformed. However, it is just an illusion which is the result of broken mirrors symbolizing the sick retina of the eye. It is up to the passers-by to try and piece the reality back together. The Rose Passage is a project focused on putting the fragments of an image into one whole. This is symbolic of the reconstruction of Rose’s retina after chemotherapy. After her illness, the girl has partial vision and it is possible that her perception of reality consists in piecing together the fragments of the whole image.The Rose Passage is open every day 8:00 - 22:00. It is free of charge.
